The volcanic island of Fuerteventura, Canary Islands, Spain is one of the top tourist destinations in Europe, if not the world. The climate is glorious throughout the year
(it is after all just over fifty miles from the African coast) and so is just as popular as a winter destination. Take African sunshine, add European stability, Spanish culture
and you get the ultimate all round tourist resorts on Fuerteventura.
Beach lovers will not be disappointed on Fuerteventura, all round the island miles of sand dunes give way to fine white sand beaches, and so whether you prefer a busy
resort beach or secluded, peaceful spot, you will not be far away from your ideal. The busier beaches have all the usual facilities, such as loungers, parasols and snack
bars, enough to keep the most seasoned sun bather happy.
The consistent sea breeze and clear blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean, has made Fuerteventura a mecca for water sports fans, especially wind surfers who come from all
over the world to enjoy the perfect conditions here. Other sports and boat trips can be found at the various harbours around the coast, for the enthusiasts or just family fun,
many of which can be booked locally.
The resorts of Fuerteventura offer something for everyone, from the larger ones such as the bustling Corralejo built round the old fishing village and harbour in the north
to the peaceful purpose built resorts mainly in the south like Morro Jable, the choice is yours.
Accommodation is many and varied to suit all tastes and budgets, hotels of good quality abound in all the Fuerteventura resorts together with aparthotels, villas and
apartment complexes. Facilities vary according to price so should be checked before booking your vacation on Fuerteventura. Almost without exception they all have
swimming pools from which most visitors never stray from except to eat or get some liquid refreshments.
Of course a major part of any holiday is dining out and Fuerteventura will not be found lacking in that department, restaurants, cafes, takeaways, fast food outlets and
bars serving food can be found everywhere to suit every taste and pocket. Evening entertainment is offered by many of the Fuerteventura bars and the larger resorts
have clubs and discos for the younger and sometimes older generation.
Many package holidays can be booked on Fuerteventura or alternatively an ever increasing choice of many is to book via the internet, their own flights (or ferry from the
Spanish mainland) and accommodation separately, sometimes with large savings, so it is certainly worth considering.
If you can tear yourself away from the pool or beach there are many other trips, attractions or sports to be found all over Fuerteventura including, golf, horse riding,
walking and zoo or just a tour of the interior of this beautiful island.
